A 41 year old man is recovering in hospital and is due to appear in court soon on charges of attempted murder.
Police spokesperson Captain Ntomboxolo Sitshitshi says the suspect fired shots at two police members, who attended to a complaint of assault in Milner Road, Nyanga, this morning.
“On the arrival police knocked at the door of the suspect and identified themselves as police officers, the suspect said he was going to open the door instead he fired shots through the door and a constable was shot on the right arm,” said Sitshitshi.
The suspect got outside the house and further fired more shots at police, who returned fire.
He was hit in his right leg and arrested.
The suspect and the officer were both taken to hospital.
