Transport Minister S’bu Ndebele has warned road users to expect more toll gates to be built on national roads.
Ndebele says this is necessary, as there is not enough money available to fix roads.
He says more than 4 000 kilometres of roads , or 32% of the national road network ,are in such a bad state that they only have a life span of five years.
It will cost more than R35 billion to fix these roads before 2014, and the department has less than half of this amount available.
