Two people died after the vehicle they were travelling swerved off the N1, went over a concrete barrier and fell approximately eight metres onto railway tracks below.
ER 24 spokesman Tristan Wadely says a man, believed to be the driver of the Bantum Bakkie, was trapped in the vehicle and needed to be removed by rescue crews.
“The other occupant of the vehicle, also a male, is believed to have been ejected from the vehicle. Both men were dead on arrival of paramedics,” Wadely said.
Wadely says the vehicle was allegedly travelling on the N1 in the direction of Cape Town.
The incident occurred just before the Brighton Road turn-off in Kraaifontein.
