Trade union Solidarity has today won another case which involved affirmative action appointments.
Correctional Services Department employee Herman Denysschen today came out a winner at the Labour Court in Braamfontein.
He was appointed assistant director but was then denied the position allegedly because he was white.
After hours of consultation between Solidarity and government Denysschen has won the right to be promoted to a post he first applied for in 2008. He will also receive more than two years worth of back pay.
Deputy General Secretary of Solidarity Dirk Hermann said “We are quite satisfied with the court order.”
