The National Sea Rescue Institute says a teenager and two younger children drowned yesterday.
The three children died during a family boat cruise on the KwaZulu-Natal's south coast.
Spokesperson Craig Lambinon says the three, a 17-year-old boy and two girls, aged eight and three, were swept out to sea when their boat capsized at Shelly Beach near Port Shepstone.
The children’s mother and father managed to reach the shore safely.
The victim’s bodies were later recovered and were declared dead at the scene.
