Deputy Economic Development Minister Enoch Godongwana and his wife Thandiwe have been linked to a company that disappeared with 100-million-Rands in workers' pensions.

Unions, who are trying to get the millions back from an investment company, have called the loss shocking.

The money was placed with a trust, which in 2007 agreed to lend 93-million-Rands to Canyon Springs Investments, which allegedly "lost" the workers' pension money.

The Godogwanas have acknowledged to The Star that they had been linked to Canyon Springs since 2007.

Meanwhile Cosatu spokeperson Patrick Craven says if these allegations are proved to be true, it is absolutely shocking.

Canyon Springs is currently facing liquidation proceedings in Cape Town.
