Former Springbok player shot dead in Gugulethu
14 November 2011
The SA Rugby Union has expressed dismay at the murder of former Springbok loose-forward Solly Tyibilika.
Tyibilika died when two armed men entered a tavern in Gugulethu, Cape Town and randomly opened fire.
Saru president Oregan Hoskins says Tyibilika was a trailblazer among black African Springboks.
He adds that the casual disregard for life in society is shocking.
Tyibilika played in eight Tests, scoring three tries. His last Test appearance was against New Zealand in Pretoria in 2006.
