Taxpayers demand better municipal services

Disgruntled taxpayers in more than 200 towns and cities have decided to form a national council for the protection of rights on municipal level.

They want guarantees that citizens will be afforded rights like a clean, healthy environment, property ownership and housing and health care.

They also demand administrative action that is lawful, reasonable and procedurally fair.

The initiators say the council is non-party-political. Office bearers are being elected at a meeting in Pretoria this afternoon.
