Well known cricket columnist commits suicide in Cape Town hotel room

Police have confirmed that well known Australian cricket correspondent Peter Roebuck committed suicide in his room in a hotel in Newlands, Cape Town last night.
The 55-year-old was covering the Australian tour of South Africa. In his cricketing career, he captained the English county side Somerset.
According to one report, Roebuck appeared to be in a disturbed state last night.
He was spoken to by police in his room at the Southern Sun Hotel.
It is believed police removed personal items from his room.
