Suspect sought after body of baby found at Cape Town railway station

Cape Town Central police are seeking the assistance of the public in solving a concealment of birth case and request the public to come forward with information on the whereabouts of the suspect.

Police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk says on Thursday a new born baby was found dumped inside a carriage of a train at the Cape Town Railway Station, platform 11 in Cape Town.

“The baby was wrapped with a blue sheet and put in a black plastic bag and the umbilical cord was still attached to the baby,” said van Wyk.

Anyone with any information regarding the whereabouts of the suspect can contact the investigating officer at Cape Town Central Police, Detective Constable Nothukela Stuurman on 021 467 6325 or the Operational Room on 021 467 8001/2. Information will be treated confidentially.
