Cape Town residents urged to prevent fires

Western Cape fire and rescue services has appealed to people to do everything in their power to prevent fires.

The Peninsula, West Coast and Boland is under an extreme fire alert with hot, dry, windy conditions.

 The fire fighters have been busy since last year in December.

The shack fires as well as the veld fires that have been prevalent in the last four months.

 A veld fire in the Macassar area on the Cape Flats kept emergency workers busy overnight.

They are still on the scene, trying to keep it under control.
