Lavender Hill residents are still searching for an eight year old girl

Lavender Hill residents said that they are praying that the body of an unidentified missing girl is not Savannah Tyler Mersin.

The eight-year-old Savannah disappeared last week.

A passerby found the body of the unidentified girl buried in a shallow grave on a sand dune near Muizenberg Beach on Friday.

Community member Haroldene Gordon said that Savannah's foster mother is traumatized by the news.

Gordon added that people are very angry because they’ve known Savannah since she was still a baby.

Gordon also said they just want clarity in this whole thing.
