The ANC Youth League in the Western Cape has threatened to shut down Cape Town by mobilising thousands of supporters to block the main highways in and out of the city.

It’s reported that thousands of residents from Khayelitsha, Langa, Mfuleni and other townships will be mobilised for a massive march on the city.

Regional Secretary for the ANC Youth League Mfuzo Zenzile said that they have submitted a memorandum to Hellen Zille`s office.

He added that they gave her seven working days to respond.

Meanwhile the Democratic Alliance has responded to these threats by saying that these threats will not be taken lightly.

Spokesperson for Helene Zille, Zak Mbhele said that it is appalling that the Youth League is continuing to make such threats.

Mbhele added that they will be held accountable for any disruptions that might occur.
