Cooperation required from Port Elizabeth residents during water crisis

The Eastern Cape’s Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality has warned residents who are affected by the water supply problems that have hit the area to switch off their empty geysers to avoid damage.

Two pipes bringing water from the Churchill and Impofu dams to reservoirs were washed away during flooding near the Van Stadens River resort.

The pipelines supply a third of Port Elizabeth’s water.

The city is trying to limit the number of areas affected by diverting water from other sources.
