Solidarity today said de-registration of the Communication Workers Union must draw renewed attention to proposed inclusion of a sub-section in the Labour Relations Act.

Solidarity believes the amendment to the act will result in trade unions who appeal against de-registration to suspend their activities.

Solidarity’s Johan Kruger said that if this becomes effective it will take away trade union rights.

He added that de-registered unions must be given a chance.
