Tucker: Olympic medals not proportional to invest made in sports

The Sports Science Institute’s Ross Tucker says the country’s success in terms of Olympic medals is not proportional to the investment made in sports.

He says nations like Jamaica and Kenya win medals without spending a great deal of money, whereas Great Britain, America and China spend far more money per medal they win.

He adds that after spending only around 80-million-Rands for these Games and winning four medals already, South Africa has a great return compared to other countries.

Tucker says SouthAfrica should money more wisely in other areas.
