MEC for Transport and Public Works Robin Carlisle lifted restrictions on three taxi associations

The Western Cape MEC for Transport and Public Works Robin Carlisle today announced that the restrictions on three Bellville Taxi Associations have been lifted.
The three taxi Association were Cata Bellville, the Bloekombos and Durbanville taxi Association.
Carlisle said these
restrictions were imposed following a period of taxi violence which saw three
members of the industry murdered and others wounded.
MEC`s Spokesperson Siphesihle Dube adds
that the conditions for lifting the suspensions were a return to a peaceful
operation and secondly the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the
three associations and the provincial regulating entity.
MEC noted that the restrictions which are now lifted, which was previously imposed was a suspension on temporary applications and duplicate of operator licences.

The last stage which happened on Friday. Both
these conditions have been met following extensive and extended formal an
informal negotiations.
MEC noted that the restrictions which are now lifted, which was previously imposed was a suspension on temporary applications and duplicate of operator licences.
