DA questions SABC staff-count extension

The Democratic Alliance on Thursday said the SABC’s Acting Chief Operating Officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng may have acted in a manner that contravenes the public loan agreement with the National Treasury.

DA’s Shadow Minister of Communications Marian Shinn added that the agreement supports the public broadcaster’s turnaround when he instructed freelancers to join the permanent workforce.

DA’s Marian Shinn said that it is inappropriate that the COO should extend the broadcaster’s head staff.
 

“One of the loan agreement requirements is to reduce the staff of the SABC and not to increase it” Shinn said.

Shinn questioned whether he had had the board’s approval in that decision, as the board is responsible for .
