Crew men safely rescued in Simonstown

The National Sea Rescue Institute from Simonstown volunteer duty crew was activated by the Transnet National Ports Authority on Sunday about a fishing boat that was experiencing some dificulty in the sea.

NSRI Spokesperson Craig Lambinon said the boat had struck a sun fish off-shore of Cape Point while underway to going out to fishing grounds off Cape Point and had experience gear box failure.

Lambinon also said there six crewmen, all from Klipheuwel, Western Cape, and they were not injured.

He adds that the boat was towed to safety to Millers Point where it has been safely recovered and no further assistance was required.
