NUM plans to negotiation possible retrenchments at Anglo

The National Union of Mineworkers said they have noted with serious concern and shock Anglo platinum’s decision to close four shafts and lay off as much as 14 000 workers.

Lesiba Seshoka said they will be interacting with the mine bosses this week in bid to find a solution to the challenges that lie ahead.

Anglo platinum last week announced that they the operations at their division, the Kusasalethu will be closed until they are sure that it is finciallly safe to start operations.

Seshoka added that as NUM they hope the mine is open to negotiations in the interest of the workers.
