A man is presumed to be missing and another three have sustained no injuries.

This is after the car they were travelling in was swept off a flooded low level bridge in Pietermaritzburg late last night.

It is believed that the car was attempting to cross over the flooded road at Woodhouse, when the vehicle started sliding.

Vanessa Jackson from ER24 said when they arrived on scene the car had already been washed away but four of the three occupants that were in thee car managed to escape unharmed.

Jackson said two of them managed to quickly get out of the car as it started sliding and the third one managed to get on top of the roof and the swam to safety a short distance down the river.

Jackson adds that fourth man was trapped inside the vehicle and at this stage we still believe he is still presumed missing and the local police are still investigating.
