WCED confident on systemic testing

The Western Cape Department of Education on Friday said it believed in the importance of systemic testing in the management of education and the improvement of learner performance. 

The department conducts its own extensive independent testing for Grade 3,6 and 9 learners. 

On Monday MEC Donald Grant and Head of Department Penny Vinjevold will be presenting the results of 2012 testing. 

MEC Donald Grant Spokesperson Bronagh Casey said this will give them an opportunity to compare the results to 2011.

Casey adds that they will target specific schools that need extra support in language and mathematics.
