37 year old man found guilty of rape

37-year-old Ishmael Mzimela today appeared in the Esikhawani Regional Court and was found guilty of raping a grade 6 boy.

He has been convicted and sentenced to 12-years in prison.

Provincial Commissioner of KwaZulu Natal General Mmammonye Ngobeni has welcomed the sentence. 

Ngobeni said the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Units in the province will work hard to make sure that all those who abuse women and children are brought to book.

Captain Thulani Zwane explains that it is alleged that the man approached a 12 year old boy who was entering a house in Esikhawani area and there the boy was raped.

“A case was opened at Ngobeni police station and the man was arrested the suspect was charged for rape and at last he was convicted to 12 years imprisonment,” added Zwane.
