The African Christian Democratic
Party in the Western Cape on
Thursday said it supports Premier Helen Zille’s call to deploy the army to the Cape Flats.
Premier Zille and Police Minister
Nathi Mthethwa are expected to have a meeting next week Thursday to discuss the
current crisis of gang violence especially in Manenberg.
ACDP Provincial Leader Ferlon
Christians said they have previously called and supported Premier Zille's call
to bring in the army to resolve the violence.
Christians said it is clear the police cannot handle
the situation of the Cape Flats and
they now know that schools in Manenberg have been closed because children are
caught in crossfire.
We urge the President to deploy the
South African National Defence Force in the areas where there is gang violence with immediate effect. Christians added....
