On Monday the Ntuzuma Magistrate
court convicted and sentenced three men accused of house robbery and rape, to a
total of forty years imprisonment.
The three men aged between 18 and
23-years-old have allegedly been linked to several crimes in the area in the
past few years.
Police Spokesperson Jay Naicker said
it is alleged that in October 2009 four men entered a house in Dube Village, their
two victims a man and a woman. They tied
the man up with an electric cord and ransacked the house.
Naicker said it is alleged that the
woman was dragged to a toilet where she was allegedly raped. The suspects took
a number of electrical items and cash before they fled the scene.
Naicker added that after intensive
investigation one suspect was arrested and charged on the 9th of October 2009. Following investigation throughout 2009 two
other suspects were arrested in March 2010.
