Seven suspects aged between 20 and 33-years-old were on Sunday arrested in the North West for contravening the Electoral Act.

The suspects allegedly removed IEC banners, damaged and set them alight close to one of its IEC registration stations in the Mase Village.

Police Spokesperson Sabata Mokgwabone said according to information that we received the suspects arrived at one of the polling stations in Mase Village where they allegedly demanded to see the regulation documents from the IEC officials.

“Unfortunately they could not get them and allegedly went to the fence where the banner of the IEC was hanging and they removed it and burnt it” Mokgwabone added.

Mokgwabone has called on the community to respect the rule of law as criminals will not be tolerated.
