The African National Congress in the Western Cape has welcomed the
admission by the Provincial Education Department that it was a mistake for them
to bind the Standing Committee on Public Accounts to deal with the Audit Report
on leaner Transport as confidential.
ANC’s Max Ozinsky said they remain
concerned about how the report was released to the press while SCOPA members
were still bound by confidentiality.
Ozinsky said the ANC feels that they wasted
a lot of time in making public document that is of extreme to the public.
Ozinsky also said they are concerned that
the report was given to certain journalists, whilst members of the provincial
legislation were not allowed to make the report public.
