The Democratic Alliance said the arms deal audit report by the Department of Trade and Industry has revealed major failures in arms deal offsets.

DA MP of Defence and Military Veterans
David Maynier said of the 40 business plans audited only 24 business plans
included estimates of the number of jobs to be created.
Maynier said one of the primary motivations
for the arms deal was that it would create jobs but the internal audit finds
that the number of jobs created could not be audited in terms of the arms deal
offsets.
“So the claim that 65 000 jobs were
created simply cannot be audited and therefore cannot be sustained” Maynier
added.
