Home Affairs offices to remain open for the voter registration weekend

The Minister of Home Affairs Naledi Pandor
will visit some departments` braches to check up on their operations during
this voter registration weekend.
Minister Pandor ordered the opening of all
403 Home Affairs offices across the country in line with the IEC’s registration,
for the 8th and the 9th of February 2014
Pandor said the department has deployed
all senior managers including the Director-General and all other Deputy
Directors-General to visit all provinces during the weekend to provide
assistance and add impetus to the work of Home Affairs provinces during the
voter registration weekend.
Pandor said in agreement with the IEC
both the green-bar coded IDs and the newly launched Smart ID Card will be
acceptable as legal forms of identity for purposes of registration and voting
during the 2014 general elections
“This is meant for the Department of Home
Affairs offices to provide Identity Documents to all citizens who need them to
register for elections, this year” She added.
