The Portfolio Committee on police has completed a successful oversight visit to various police stations in the Buffalo City Metropolitan are in Eastern Cape.

Committee Chairperson Annelize van Wyk said the objective was for Committee members to get a sense of how well police stations were implementing various pieces of legislation pertaining to policing, and also to inspect the resources at the targeted police stations.

"We came across a couple of challenges that we believe is the result of lack of command control at the stations.

We therefore would like to call on South African Police Service in Eastern Cape to up their game and make sure that these kinds of things do not happen and to not sit in their offices and manage from there, actually to be out in the field and see what is happening in reality at police stations,” Van Wyk added.
