The African Christian Democratic Party said
President Jacob Zuma must concentrate on the greatest challenges facing South Africa which is
unemployment, poverty and inequality, when he delivers his State of the Nation
Address this evening.
ACDP President Kenneth Meshoe said in a
statement that the President will need to indicate what steps are being taken
to urgently implement the National Development Plan.
ACDP Spokesperson Keeno Petersen said
President Zuma will also need to address the underlying causes of widespread
service delivery protests, such as corrupt officials, the lack of housing,
water and sanitation.
Petersen said these services delivery
protests are often accompanied by violence and destruction of property. Attention will also have to be given to the
underhand approach by the public order policing unit which has resulted in
people loosing their lives.
