Protesters disrupt voter registration in Stellenbosch

A group of people protested this morning at the at a voter registration station in Khayamandi High School in Stellenbosch, they prevent people from registering because they say Helen Zile has not addressed them.
A group of people protested this morning at the at a voter registration station in Khayamandi High School in Stellenbosch, they prevent people from registering because they say Helen Zile has not addressed them.

Landingwe said this group of were carrying knobkerries and sticks refused to
open the gate.
Landingwe said
police had to be called in.
Landingwe said the
protesters claim that on Friday they were supposed to have a meeting with
Premier Helen Zille but they whne they arrived at the venue they were told that
the Premier is not coming and had sent the Mayor, Patricia De Lille instead.
Landingwe also said
the residents say they have boycotted the meeting since they had wanted to
speak to the Premier directly as they claim that they have spoken to the Mayor
several times but their concerns have not been attended to.
She added that
situation is calm now and the police are monitoring the area.
