The Treatment Action Campaign in the Western Cape said it is
frustrated with the on-going high volume of complaints about poor treatment and
care at health facilities in the province.
TAC’s Amelia Mfiki said problems have
continued to arise in hospitals such as Khayelitsha District, GF Jooster
Hospital and Groote Schuur.
Mfiki added they are not happy with the
attitude of staff at these hospitals. When visitors bring food items for patients’
staff recommends items such as soap and towels instead.
According to Mfiki these are attitudes that
are not acceptable. The TAC has had a number of meetings. They do not know when
the health facilities in the Western Cape will change as they
have not seen any improvement and they do not know which way to go.
