Women killed in truck accident in Pietermaritzburg

An accident this morning on Church Street in Pietermaritzburg resulted in a woman in her 40’s being killed. 

It is believed the woman and a man were stationery at a traffic light when a truck colldided with them from behind and pushed over a barrier into a fence. 

The exact details of the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation. 

ER24 Spokesperson Werner Vermaak said when paramedics arrived on the scene they found the women several metres away from the vehicle sadly paramedics could not do anything for her and she was declared dead on the scene.The driver of the vehicle a man believed to be in his 40’s sustained moderate injuries.He was treated on the scene before being transported to North Dale Hospital for further treatment.

“The passenger in the truck was found with minor injuries and later transported to medi clinic Pietermaritzburg.The driver of the truck was not injured in the incident Vermaak added.
