Fatal accident on Ou Kaapse Weg

An accident on Ou Kaapse Weg near Fish Hoek this morning left a man, in his thirties, dead. It is believed that he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to collide with another oncoming vehicle.

According to ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring, after paramedics arrived on the scene they found two badly damaged cars on the side of the road.

When paramedics assessed the driver of the light motor vehicle they found that he had already succumbed to his injuries. The occupants of the SUV he collided with were fortunate to have sustained only minor injuries.

It is said Jaws of Life equipment had to be used to free the deceased’s body from the wreckage. The exact details of the cause of the accident will remain the subject of a police investigation.
