The Western Cape Department of Education said it is committed to providing curriculum support to Grade 12 learners. Owing to this commitment, the department has initiated the Grade 12 Winter Schools Programme to assist learners in high enrolment subjects.

MEC of Education Debbie Schafer said the winter programme is important, especially for schools where learners are struggling in specific subjects.

Schafer added the programme, which is rolled out at 166 high schools across the Province, aims to assist in learning areas such as Science, Maths and Accounting.

In addition, many programmes are facilitated by tutors selected by the Department of Education. The MEC reiterated the Department’s commitment to assist learners by further making resource material available to complement lessons presented.
