The
African Christian Democratic Party in the Western Cape has welcomed the
suspension of a grade 2 teacher from Eastville Primary School in Mitchell’s
Plain, who allegedly assaulted some of her pupils.
The
teacher allegedly pinched, punched, spat and swore at pupils.
The
Western Cape Department of Education the teacher will appear before a
disciplinary hearing on the 24th of March.
ADCP
Provincial Leader Ferlon Christians said we are saddened by that fact because
it tells us that the teacher is wrongly placed and not best suited for the job.
Christians
said because an educator must love children not abuse children.
Christians
said this comes at the back drop 2013/2014 when it was reported that the highest
number of corporal punishment is in the Western Cape.
“We
are asking that the person appears and that the necessary actions are taken”
Christians added.
