Tributes are continuing to pour in for late Minister of Public Service and Administration, Collins Chabane who died on Sunday morning together with his two bodyguards.

The Presidency has awarded Chabane with an official state funeral.

The Thabo Mbeki Foundation described Minister Chabane as a quiet and humble person who was forever concerned about raising the levels of people’s consciousness in various ways.

The Foundations Mukoni Ratshitanga said the foundation is of the view that this development is an immense tragedy Collins Chabane was a very dedicated hard working Minister. He was still relatively young at the age of 55 years and therefore still had a lot ahead of him in our countries efforts for reconstruction and development.

Meanwhile the Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa has also paid tribute to Minister Chabane.

Denosa President Simon Hlungwani said his death comes at the time when his department, as the employer of public servants, was busy engaged in wage negotiations with public sector unions on improvement of working conditions for government employees.

Hlungwani said as we know his vision this year was to ensure that we do not reach a dead log in negotiations that would’ve ended up leading to a strike.

Hlungwani said we want to work and strive to fulfill his vision so that we can solve issues and realize an agreement without having to go to a strike at the end of the financial year.

We know that he was committed to ensuring that all the previous resolutions are adhered to.

Hlungwani said we will definitely miss him and it will definitely be a gap.

“For us it’s worse because this is the second time that we lose a Minster during a very difficult time of trying to find a resolution towards wage negotiations” Hlungwani added.
