A taxi accident this afternoon in Merrivale, Pietermaritzburg left sixteen
people including three children injured.
This is after the taxi collided with a traffic light.
ER24 Spokesperson Russel Meiring says ER24 paramedics along with other services
arrived on the scene and found the taxi crushed up against a traffic light.
On assessment, paramedics found that 16 people had been inside the
vehicle when the collision occurred.
An elderly woman, found sitting
in the front of the taxi, was found sitting in a serious condition with
injuries on both her legs, other patient’s sustained injuries ranging from
minor to moderate.
Paramedics began treating the patients and provided the critically
injured patient with advanced life support, Meiring added.
The exact details to the cause of the accident will remain the subject
of a police investigation
