The Democratic Alliance calls
upon the Minister of Basic Education to come before the Portfolio Committee to
account for the lack of support given to learners with special needs.
The DA believes learners with
special needs are being denied their right to a good education.
DA Member on Basic Education
Portfolio Committee Sonja Boshoff said, the DA is calling on the Minister of
Basic Education, Minister Angie Motshekga, to intervene as a matter of urgency to
ensure that these learners are given their rightful education that they
deserve.
Boshoff said that “we should
be actually looking after our learners whether they have any impairment or
whether they are learners that can go to normal school.”
We cannot take their dignity
away from them by not providing formal education, Boshoff added.
