Following problems of public violence surrounding bad service delivery in the area of Site C in Khayelitsha, the City of Cape Town embarked on a clean up operation.
This morning allowed the City to move into the area, after an agreement was reached with the community following a meeting that took place last night.
“The clean up operation was initiated in order to repair all the public infustrcture in the area that were damaged by the residents. This included cleaning up of the area, the reinstatement of the trenches dug across the road and any other remedial work to community toilets and water standpipes that occurred during the last two weeks” said The City’s Noahmaan Hendricks
According to the City, due to the nature of the settlement and its density, it has been very difficult providing adequate services.
