Today a new cabinet for the Western Cape Provincial Government was sworn in by Judge Yvonne Mokgoro of the Constitutional Court.

The new premier Helen Zille of the Western Cape thanked the new cabinet for agreeing in entering the new government with her and she said that they sent an invitation to the Congress of the People but refuse while the Independent Democrats accepted it.

The Independent Democrats Sakkie Jenner says we have entered into a co-governance agreement with the Democratic Alliance in the Western Cape.

After consultation with ID structures in the province, it was decided that the ID’s I would take up the position of MEC, says Jerner.

The ID says in a statement Jenner would be the new MEC for Cultural Affairs, Sport and Recreation in the province.

Jenner says the ID has a distinct vision and approach to politics and remains independent, but this does not mean they cannot work with others where they feel it will be of benefit to the people of the Western Cape.
