Its all systems go for Jacob Zuma’s inauguration at the Union Buildings in Pretoria today.
Zuma will be sworn in as the country’s fourth democratically elected president during a lavish ceremony costing R75million. Heavy security has been maintained around Pretoria and the city’s streets.
National police say no criminal activity or any sort of unruly behaviour will be tolerated at the Union Buildings where the President will be sworn in as president.
Captain Dennis Adriao says the public who are attending should be aware that no weapons or anything deemed as a weapon will be allowed on the premises. No alcohol will be allowed either. Motorists have been asked to give way to vehicles escorting special heads of state
Twenty-nine Heads of State and Government and seven Deputy Presidents from around the world are expected to attend Jacob Zuma’s inauguration as President in Pretoria today.
The Department of Foreign Affairs said several Heads of State and Government began arriving at Oliver Tambo International Airport yesterday, including the Presidents of the Ivory Coast, Tanzania, Equatorial Guinea and Seychelles.
