Deputy Human Settlements Minister Zoliswa Kota-Fredericks has been injured in a road accident, claiming the lives of two people.
Western Cape traffic officials say her Mercedes Benz collided with a Corsa bakkie in which the other two victims had been travelling.
The accident happened yesterday afternoon on the N-1 between Beaufort West and Leeu-Gamka.
Fredericks and her driver were travelling to Cape Town at the time. It is not clear whether Fredericks’ driver was also injured.
Police spokesperson Captain Derrick de Klerk says it is not yet clear what the cause of the accident was.
A case of culpable homicide has been opened and will be investigated, added de Klerk.
