Roadblocks around the City at the weekend netted a total of 1 860 road offenders.
Among the offences recorded, 68 motorists were arrested for drunk driving, and another 77 for speeding.
The highest speed was recorded at 186 kilometers per hour in an 80 zone.
One driver in Delft was also arrested for reckless and negligent driving.
“In total 206 unlicensed drivers were charged, and a total of 248 unlicenced vehicle offences were recorded,” said Traffic Services spokesperson Kevin Jacobs.
Jacobs urged motorists to ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy and to make “responsible decisions when drinking and driving”.
