The body of one of the two mineworkers who were missing following earth tremors at the Goldfields Driefontein mine on Sunday night has been found.
Trade union Solidarity says this brings to 152 the number of fatalities so far this year in South African mines.
The second man is still missing.
Solidarity warned that mining safety had to be increased sharply over the festive season because this time of year was notorious for its slacker safety measures, which could eventually lead to an increase in the number of mining accidents.
