Employees of the South African National Blood Service are considering striking for better pay.
The Health and Other Service Personnel Trade Union of South Africa, Hospersa, says it is concerned that members may decide to strike during this crucial time of the year, when there is a high demand for blood and blood products.
Hospersa says in a statement it is fed up with the management of the Blood Service for dragging its heels as far as a pay increase is concerned, and says legal and industrial action will force management to comply.
