Following the latest outbreak of measles in the Western Cape the provincial health department has embarked on an awareness campaign against measles.
The campaign will include radio health talks, advertorials, posters and pamphlets.
According the provincial health records the number of cases in the province is 260.
The department says the numbers show that the areas most affected are the Cape Town Metropole and the Cape Winelands.
Spokesperson Helen Rossouw cautions the public on the symptoms you should look out for.
“The sysmtoms to look out for is loss of appetite, fever, red watery eyes, a cough and a runny nose,” Rossouw.
Rossouw says at the infection period is at its highest at that point after that the measles rush comes out starting at the face and running down to the whole body.
