Hype and buzz fills the atmosphere ahead of the State of the Nation Address scheduled to take place at parliament in the next few minutes.

President Jacob Zuma is expected to address the joint-sitting of parliament a rare occasion where houses of parliament, the national assembly and national council of provinces come together.

It is also an occasion where all three arms of government meet under one roof.

The pomp and ceremony will start in a few hours as MPs and ministers arrive.

The highlight of the ceremony will be Mandela’s arrival, depending on his health.
