Violence marks the start of voting in Iraq’s elections

Iraqi officials say 24 people have been killed in violence as the country goes to the polls.

60 others have been injured in a bomb blast and mortar attacks in Baghdad.

The country's current Prime Minister Nouri al Maiki has cast his vote in the second election since the fall of Saddam Hussein.

Nearly 19 million people are expected to cast their vote.
